Getting Started
- Add a customer — Go to the Customers section and add your first customer with their contact details.
- Create a project — Set up a project under a customer with your hourly rate and preferred currency. The type of currency is determined by your settings of your Apple
- Track your time — Use the menu bar timer or manually add time entries.
- Modify the invoice template - In the settings of the app modify it to reflect your situation.
- Generate invoices — Select tracked time entries and create professional PDF invoices.
Frequently Asked Questions
Where is my data stored? All your data is stored locally on your Mac. Zeitwerk currently does not use cloud storage or require an account.
Can I use Zeitwerk offline? Yes. Zeitwerk works entirely offline. No internet connection is required for any functionality.
How do I import time entries from Excel? Go to the Import section and select your Excel file. Zeitwerk supports importing time entries in bulk from standard spreadsheet formats.
Which currencies are supported? Zeitwerk supports multiple currencies including USD, EUR, GBP, JPY, and more. Currency formatting automatically adapts to your locale settings.
How do I customise my invoices? You can add your company logo, business details, payment terms, and tax information in the Settings section. These will appear on all generated PDF invoices.
Can I set different hourly rates per project? Yes. Each project can have its own hourly rate and currency, allowing you to manage diverse customers and billing arrangements.
What tax options are available? Zeitwerk supports customisable tax labels (VAT, BTW, GST, IVA, Sales Tax, etc.) and configurable tax rates per invoice.
What are the system requirements? Zeitwerk requires macOS 15.0 or later and is compatible with both Apple Silicon and Intel Macs.
