Adventures in chromebookland
Chromebooks are interesting if you need a low budget computer. They are even nicer if you can run Linux or another operation system on it. I tried this on an older one that was still around in the house.
Supposedly there are two ways of running Linux on your Chromebook.
- run inside of ChomeOS, or inside a container actually
- flash the firmware and install an UEFI bios, and roll your own distro

So, I would like to run Ubuntu Linux.
For this I had to disable the write protection on the firmware. This has to be done by removing the battery feed from the motherboard.
Here we go:

It worked! I could flash the firmware with this tool.
After that, I could change the boot order and boot the Ubuntu installer from USB.
